PORSCHE SMITH-ANGEL

The Cosmic Child

After a 7-year album hiatus, the singer-songwriter and producer formerly known as Porsche Smith has returned newly named, and with new music. Now carrying “Angel” as part of her on-stage moniker, it’s no surprise her upcoming musical release mimics that same ethereal theme. Cosmic Child, the EP set for distribution in Fall of 2024, is preceded by a string of eclectic singles, the first being “The Sun Still Burns”. Although acoustic with vocals leading listeners to ponder the parallels between everyday life and the universe at large, the following single “Celestial Night” unleashes Angel’s inner DJ and omits lyrics altogether but will make you dance on the production alone. The 3rd single is still to be determined, but is likely to be a collaborative effort with an industry great.

Prior to her latest wave of musical inspiration, the Bay Area California native (and now Atlanta transplant) holds under her belt 3 albums, 2 EPs, 1 mixtape, and a stack of singles with writing credits for other artists. Porsche is a two-time ESSENCE Magazine feature with music heard in the Netflix African comedy flick “Payday”. She is also the winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Awards (amongst others), and has sailed the high seas with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruise lines as a 5-year musical entertainer. Angel has also shared stages with world-renown artists such as India.Arie and John Legend, to name a few.

When asked why she stepped away from doing music for the last several years, there were a plethora of reasons. However, when asked why she returned to doing music, the songstress simply replied, “There are things you want to do, and then there are things you’re born to do. I know I was born to do music - It’s my superpower and gift to the world.”

Let’s hope this Cosmic Child keeps giving the gift that never stops giving: Her heartfelt messages and melodies to be heard throughout the cosmos, both now and in the generations to come.
